From what i'v noticed these past few weeks, people seem to be very excited about THIS paticular Samhain, but then again it might be because this is the first time Im actually going to do something for Samhain (yeah me) so now im paying attention more. I'v read a lot about people can FEEL something in the air or something building up. i don't know, im not them. But i think it has more to do with the fact Samhain is on a Friday (Awsomeness), or that it happens to fall on a New Moon. Which to me only makes things better (and creeper) if one was wishing to reflect on the past year or honor any loved ones that have past on. Or maybe Witches and Pagans are getting all upitdy about it to try and get a much needed break from all this Presidential Election bullshit that has polluted are media for the last few months. You can't turn the channel without hearing about some chick getting "beat up" by a Obama supporter, or Sarah Palin making a fool of herself (aka she opens her mouth). What ever it may be, i really hope that during all the costume parties and Circle or Solitary Ritauls that people take a moment to reflect not only on the past year but on how far we have come as a Community, and how far we have to go to truely be free to be a Witch.
I just got back from watching the hilarious movie Religulous with Bill Maher. He goes around the world poking fun at the various religions he encounters, from the Trucker Chruch to the Canabis Ministries in Amsterdam ( Flaming Hair lolz ). He points out the absurdness of their beliefs and their blind faith to them with no evidence what so ever. This got me thinking about my beliefs and how they may sound to someone not familar with my religion. Like you have to admit that believing that the universe as we know it was created by a Goddess that made love to her own reflection that later became the God and her consort does sound a bit crazy. Or what about how the God/dess having a thousand names such as Kali, Diana, or Inanna, and Odin, Pan, Krishna to an outsider it may seem like we worship a God/dess with a Multiply Personality disorder. Can anyone truely say they KNOW their is a God/dess? Or that they KNOW there is a Summerlands to which we go after our passing? No, we can only guess the answers to the Great Mysteries of our world through mere glimpses of the Divine, and mostly through secound- hand accounts. All paths and religions are mere attemps at expalining the Divine, and as Humans we are naturaly prone to make mistakes. And that is why to me all religions are hilarious, it's like watching a child try to figure out where the people in the T.V. go when it shuts off. And don't get me started about all the people who try to show how much they love God and how much they love they back. Who doesn't crack up when you see a Televanglist babeling away like a baby while "healing the sick" via bonking people on the head. Now look at some of the things we do in our religions like raising a cone of power, or chanting an incantation in a sing-song voice. It's all quite amusing when you truely look at it. Because in the end were just a bunch of children staring at a T.v. asking ourselfs "Where do all the people go when it shuts off??"
Hello one and all, And Blessed Ostra!! I love spring. the smells, the sounds, the chance to walk outside without a coat so heavy it makes me look like that murshmellow ghost from ghostbusters (Cue the theme song!!!). But resently i'v noticed that it doesn't seem to be warming up as much as i would like, the tempature is still below 0c, there is ice EVERYWHERE!!! as well as slowly shrinking piles of snow. Obviously this has to do with Global warming, of which i have my own views that shall be posted at a later date, but what really pisses me off is the flip-flop weather we have up here in the great white north. One Day it's so warm then it's sub-zero the next. This constant changing of tempatures is totally killing my immune system which is usally really good as i hardly ever get sick. But currently i am fighting one bitch of a cold that just doesn't seem to want to die, kinda like those mini-bosses in video games that just keep coming back over , and over, and OVER AGAIN. But what really ticks mr off about this is that this cold is hiting me 6 days from my departure to New York City for a school trip that cost $2000.00, and nothing short of an early apocalypse will stop me from getting there. I'v always wanted to see NYC, and this trip promises to be any experince of a lifetime. We have a hotel near Time Square, a 24/7 tour guide, Pre-paid breakfasts and dinners, and two pre-paid Broadway shows one of which is the Lion King. And too top it all off i get to have this wonderful experince with my close friends. So anyway i think i should go before i start to write a novel, im going to go drown myself in vitamin C to kill this damn abomination of cold.
~Merry part & Blessed Be~
P.S. If Anyone knows some good Occult or Pagan Shops in the Mannhatan area i would greatly appericate the tip. :)
Pardon the expression, but has anyone else noticede that almost everyone has some shit going on in their lives right now?? Has Like Mars Collieded with Venus or somethin? Everyone is eitheir acting extremly out of character (at least on my end), or somethin is messin up their lives. Im no expert on Astrology but it seems that what ever has happen seems to be affecting everybody. Or maybe it's just the lack of sun, or my extreme paranoia.
What ever the case, i still fell like something is coming. I'v heard rumors that the internet organization call Anonymus is planning something against the "Church" Of Scientology on the Ides of March. Lets pray it isn't as bad as i think it might be.
For those of you that don't visit gayrightswatch.com, which you should it's a great site, i'm here to inform you of a new study that has found that gay couples are better then straight couples (jokingXD). The study says that it found that gay couples were closer emoitionaly then their straight counterparts, which lesbian couples being closer then both straight and gay male couples. This was apparently do to the greater equality when it came to divideing up the housework and childcare, which was a result of homosexual couples flexibility about traditional gender roles. The study found that this gave gay couples a head up on the straights couples who often fell into power imbalances and dissatisfaction from trying to fit into traditional gender roles.
